April is Stress Awareness Week, and in response to this, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is encouraging employers to focus on looking after their employees through five steps aimed at identifying, addressing, and managing stress in the workplace.

The five steps are: Reach out and have conversations; Recognise the signs and causes of stress; Respond to risks identified; Reflect on the actions taken and Make it Routine.

HSE’s Working Minds initiative aims to help employers to meet their legal responsibilities with respect to identifying and managing stress risks in the workplace – offering a range of practical tool-kits and resources. They are also working collaboratively with NEBOSH to support good practice in this area, including the development of the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work qualification.

Working Minds has produced bite-sized training, available here, as a starting point for employers to know their responsibilities and how to meet them.

A more in-depth and comprehensive understanding is provided through the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work, which CHASE offers either through online or in-person training. All our courses can be booked online.
